fire wood

so after our common cycle meeting last night i decided to use my trailer first thing. we have been discussing transforming the trailer into a mobile repair area. no doubt with nick and evan and their carpentry skills, it'll turn out awesome. the idea is to turn it into a stake truck of sorts. making it possible to haul a stand and all tools needed. covering it in reflectors was another idea thrown out there, but i think that'll just make me more of a target. more so then a guy pulling around a mobile repair bike shop already would be. i told these guys to build it, i'm not concerned with how heavy it is, i'll pull it. they started talking about retractable awnings, steel reinforced sub structure etc. shoulda' kept my mouth shut, but, i think it's gonna' be awesome.

in the meantime, i was using it to haul firewood back home. i was suprised that i didn't see more people in the woods collecting firewood by bicycle this morning. i think if it evoked the same feelings in them as it does in me, everyone would be out there doing it. oh well, more for me.

sunny mini ramp session

might just be another huge tease from our lovely state of michigan. but too hard to resist uncovering the ramp in this weather. skate or die! till it snows that is...

whitmore lake ride

out to and around whitmore lake today. 30 degreesish and sunny. not too bad minus the wind. felt good to get out and get a few miles in.

snow day kicker

the close vicinity of the fire pit was not as much of an issue as the lack of the run out after the landing.

winter path maintenance

so i was sick of trying to get up as much speed before hitting the path. and i knew the city wasn't going to do anything about it. and the more people that walk on the snow without clearing the harder it would become to ride. so... DIY snow removal for all my ann arbor commuterites. this is the pedestrian bridge that crosses 94 between platt and stone school. saves a lot of time but can be difficult with no snow removal. your welcome.

doctor sentenced to 5 years

this happened a while back. full story here.

it was nice to see justice served. anyone who takes it upon themselves to "teach them a lesson" in a negative manner is a dangerous person and should be treated as such. while the doctors actions were aggresive and intentional, it seems like judges are at a loss on how to treat cases that are not. like the death of tim pincikowski on maple road last summer. nicholas wahl was recently sentenced on the fatal collision here in ann arbor.

or, who can forget the firefighter who shot a man in the head? he shot the cyclist in front of his wife and three year old child to teach him a lesson. the firemen felt the cyclist was acting carelessly by riding in the road. so thinking safety first, shot 'em in the head. full story

just a stand up guy having a bad day the judge said. the firefighter got 120 days in jail.
so be careful out there. you never know when a distracted driver or homicidal maniac may be approaching. fucking ridiculous. all i know is that when the earth resembles cormac mccarthy's "the road" bikes win! i could totally begin going on a rant about how a man with a gun seems to stand a lot taller then when he is without. or how a weapon turns a pussy into a badass instantly. or how a vehicle is a weapon when used as such.
let's just ask ourselves,"what would patrick swayze do?" i think we all know the answer. one word...

so dennis and crew are returning to ann arbor for one night only. bringing with them their open sprints krietler hell yes roller racing. the weather has been so shitty lately that it only seems appropriate to do this now. anyone who hasn't come out really needs to see what this is all about. even as a spectator you're guaranteed to have a good time. this year is 18 and up which is cool as well. pretty cool to see how far along the open sprints set up has become. see you there.
